Working with sky+ box

Postby micklen » Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:05 am

Hi all

I am well happy with my TiVo and sky box in my room, it is working great with few programme detail errors

However the Sky+ HD box on the main TV is driving both my wife and I mad as it is absolute rubbish at searching and recording series and we are missing loads of programmes we would normally watch
I was seriously thinking of getting another TiVo to use in there
However has anyone got experience of using a TiVo with the Sky+ HD box

Will it control the box providing you don't ask the Sky box to do too much recording itself :?:
And how would you connect it :?:

I hope someone can help as the Sky+ box is absolute crap      :x

Thanks a lot

Mick

yup, we have ours working in tandem with our Sky+ box

as long as you don't set more than one simultaneous recording on the Sky box, Tivo will operate happily (as by default, I think the sky box records off its second tuner, unless you try to record two programs at once in which case it forces you to watch one of them)

so you can still record one thing off sky, and one thing over Tivo without any issues - bear in mind that one thing we did discover is that Sky would sometimes be correct, and Tivo wouldn't be (for last minute changes, ie. changes made after your Tivo has dialled in - like a football match over-running and pushing all the other programs back etc)

connection is just via. Scart lead so SKY+ --> SCART --> TIVO --> SCART --> TV
