Soft padding,slow response

Postby Penny Cook » Tue Sep 13, 2011 11:22 pm

Hi all,

I've recently found that 2minutes soft padding has been automatically added :?: to all recordings, and my Tivo has been suffering from REALLY slow responses to my manual recordings - it can sit on the "Please Wait" screen for up to 2 minutes - are these related? How do I switch off soft padding?

Also getting a lot of failed daily calls (network connection, but I can still ping Tivo immediatelly after failed call)

I've got less than 5% used on one of Daves EXCELLENT :D 1TB drives

I've another 2 vanilla Tivos in the attic which I could swap the HDD into if the memory is starting to go faulty - would I have to set thumbs etc onto the new boxes, or is this info held on the HDD?

TIA, Penny

If you're running the altepg image I think you can add the line endpad_enable="NO" to /etc/oztivo.conf and reboot tivo.

Yes, everything should transfer across fine. The altepg server won't know the new service number so on the first daily call it will send all the guide data slices again, but that should only happen once (provided the call is successful).

Unlikely to be related.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Seriously.
