How many hours for disc size

I came back from a trip to find that some older programmes I'd not yet watched had been removed to make room for new recordings. Bit of a shock that was, as I've never had that happen before even with lots of programmes.

I've a 120GB disc in the TiVo, and the System Information is reporting only 37 hours at best quality. Does that sound right? I'm sure that I've had more than that on there in the past.

Yes, that sounds right. A while back I collated various different reported disc sizes vs what tivo reported as the free space. This was in the days when the difference in price between 80GB, 120GB and 160GB was a big deal!

NB: the above is for DEFAULT bitrates. Mode0 tweaks normally increase the bitrate of "Best", so it'll reduce the number of capacity hours.

Ah, mode 0 - that might be it... I used to have that set before I moved to AltEPG, but I've no idea if it's set now. More research required me thinks.
