Sadly no, this TiVo is a bog standard machine so no network card, been trying since very early this morning and still reporting phone busy, the upside I guess is it means there are loads of TiVo users out there wanting and trying to join the altEPG service.
Peter

Tinkering with TiVo's since 2000, now have 8 lifetime sub S1 TiVo's in various states of upgrade/hacked condition & 4 non-lifetime sub TiVo's, too boring to list all the details but most have upgraded HD's & network cards

I tried for 1.5 hours yesterday evening and couldn't get through - had to run through normal guided set up to get out of it.

Are these messages from Alpha testers or anyone?
If all systems are 'go' would you mind posting instructions again with dial up numbers etc.
Thanks

Peter, if you connect a phone to the same line*, and pick it up after TiVo has picked up the line, you can hear it dial, and if it gets an engaged tone (or something else). Also, if it connects, you can hear the initial negotiation, before the "real" data starts (though, I might be clouded by years of troubleshooting fax systems on this point ;) ). If it does get this far, you probably no longer have a problem, and can put the phone down (very carefully/slowly/gently!).

I can tell when my TiVo has picked up the line, because I can see it happening on the screen of my answerphone, followed by the number, as it dials. Note, this happens, quite a while after TiVo reports "phone in use", on the screen.

HTH! :)

Matt.

* - you might have to turn "Phone Control" off in the dial menu for this to work (not to be confused with detect Dial Tone).

Just wanted to say a huge thank you - a fair few tries yesterday afternoon and evening and now my ol' faithful Tivo is back up and running and full of program guide :)

Probably helps that I'm only on Freeview with a small list of channels so guessing the download wasn't too heavy, but all the same thanks once again to all those who made this happen

:D Another BIG thank you.
Was wondering whether to ditch my S1 TiVo and go for a Humax Freesat Plus instead. Luckily went to see a friend with one - it took her 10 minutes navigating the clunkiest menus I've ever seen (I used to be a Windows fan :? ) just to stop the thing recording something she didn't want!
Made me appreciate my TiVo AND you guys at the AltEPG project even more than before.
Really appreciate all your hard and inspired work.
Thank you
:D :D
