Commercial advertising

Speaking for my "cluster" (9 users), we have NO problem with the occasional communication as a TiVo message informing us by way of an "advert".

IF an offer proves of interest, a smart shopper would as a matter of course Google/Ebay search for current alternatives. In the same way that one does if (eg) the post brings an interesting unsolicited advert for anything.

Can't agree with your stance on this one, Spitfires.

I think you are missing my point. E.g. Tivo.Central (or any other supplier) could do a promotion and sell 500GB discs for £10 but you won't get to hear about it because healeydave will refuse to send out a TiVo mail message telling you about the offer.

My concern is not that marketing messages are being sent out but that ONLY adverts for Tivoland stuff will be sent. Is that in the best interests of the community?

As your TC's no.1 fan (basically because it's not me), I can assure you they have done very well off the back off this project!

....and your only saying that now you've seen the responses!

Do you know this as a fact? I would prefer to assume that any genuine special offer from a reputable supplier that would benefit the AltEPG community at large might get similar treatment. Unless and until someone has approached the AltEPG team with a request like this and been refused, complaints are unjustified.

Read the earlier posts in this thread - healeydave said he will only send out mail messages from people in "The AltEPG Team". Since he is the only person in the "AltEPG Team" with goods to sell then there is your answer. If you don't believe me just ask him if he will send out messages for other suppliers and see if you get a straight answer (rather than a smoke and mirrors diversionary rant).

In his previous posts on this forum he said he will categorically not allow any promotion of suppliers other than himself. Up to now that has just meant no other suppliers on this website (which is ok) but now healeydave has unilaterally decided this also applies to TiVo mail messages as well (which is not ok).

As have you my friend - you've made what two, three maybe even £4,000 in your personal pocket as a direct result of this project?

But that is not the point - this is supposed to be a community project and therefore anything the self-elected "AltEPG Team" do should be in the best interests of the community as a whole rather than themselves personally. Do you not agree?

Tivoland has been supporting and helping keeping TiVo running in the uk since 2003. Pushing this project forward was necessary to continue this past 2010 and despite you making claims about money I have made of-which are complete guess work on your part beause you ave absolute no idea what you are talking about, I suspect if I factored in the costs of my time dedicated to the project and other investments, I doubt I have made much at all!
You upper figures are plucked from the air for effect and it's this dreamworld writing that really gets on my nerves!
In hindsight, it would have been great to have just sat back and earn't the small amount of increased sales from HDD's that happened in the first few months for no effort at all!!!

After all your warnings, you continue to spout untruths and fabricated statements which is what got you into trouble in the first place. That caused this rift between us several months ago which you just couldn't let go and its now clear that you never will either!

I am seriously unsure right at this moment how to deal with you but one thing is clear you continual personal attacks, untruths and ignorance requires further action.
