No requirement no but obviously you won't get schedule updates during the week if there are any+we detect them/someone reports them in enough time+we fix them. But if you only call at weekends I guess you take that into account already.

To clarify the dates:
on Friday the data for Sun 4th Dec was imported which would have been published in slices yesterday, but was delayed until today.
Yesterday the data for Mon 5th Dec was imported but we had to roll the Db back so it wasn't published today.
Today the data for Mon 5th was imported again, along with Tue 6th, and that lot will be published tomorrow.

Out of interest, what was the problem in the end?

Hi, my system worked fine until yesterday (dialup 0161)- after the reports of the fault being fixed I reattached the phone line and forced an update. However all I get is unable to connect, and get a call failed notice.
Strange thing is now when I attempt this it also brings down my phone internet connection?

Anyone else using 0161 number still having problems?

Thanks

I had quite an issue trying to connect to the 0161 number today, 4 attemps in the end with a forced reboot in the middle of them all (wwhich didnt seem to make any real difference :? )

All I can say is keep trying

Hi all, joining the party a bit late here... I am on Freeview with a networked TiVo. Had a few problems with calls over the last couple of days, but manually running the daily call has fixed it. Now this evening not even the test call is working...

The original call failure had an error like "Failed updating season pass status" I think - and now a lot of my To Do items have disappeared, and the Recording History says "Season pass modified".

No crashes or GSOD (yet - touch wood)

@NickF22 - that doesn't sound like it's related to this thread, but anyway for your information the server logs show your tivo connecting at about 18:13 this evening, and downloading 4 files. No communication since then, so your test calls aren't reaching the server. Are you sure your Tivo is properly connected to the internet?

Hi millsb
Thanks for investigating so quickly. In fact our broadband completely died around 8pm so I wonder if it was on the way out earlier...
Once it's back I'll check again and post back if I have similar issues.

Everything still seems OK today, so we're fairly sure the problem was caused by one or more orphaned showings in the slices, i.e. a showing with no program or episode record attached. We're still not sure how they got into the database, and from there how they got into the slices, as the slicebuilder code if supposed to simply skip any showings when it can't find the program it points to. But rolling back the database to the last backup and removing the rogue showings seems to have fixed it.

It's been OK for me the past few days and from the stats page http://www.altepg.com/serverStatistics.html it seems normal service has been resumed.

Hi
I still havent been able to connect by phone (0161) since the outage.
I tried 7 times Sunday and 3 times today. All failed.

Any ideas what's going on? could the Tivo registration have been erased at the server end-

I dont know if this was part of the AltEPG upgrade but I receive a message box to tell me its failed.

Any suggestions - Please

Looking at the server logs, you are successfully registered and your calls are getting through to the server. The last two calls were at 21:06 and 21:59 Monday night.

At 21:06 your TiVo attempted to download slice file UK01013_15306-15320 which is the latest data for Sky HD. However it looks like the download got interrupted - it only retrieved 13KB of that 1.3MB file.
At 21:59 the server offered that same file again, but received no request from your TiVo to download it.

So in both cases it looks like your TiVo is dropping the phone connection.

As you're running altepg1.0c you will get a message whenever a call fails. The message may help to understand what's going wrong.

Thanks milsb, I tried twice this morning and failed but the 3rd attempt at 7.30am got through, now have data until the 13th Dec.

Big thank you to all of you that keep this service alive :)
