Except, of course, that VM haven't done anything of the sort. It's basically a US S4 with the VM colour-scheme.

What a load! As I said, it's a Series 4 Tivo with VM's colours.

It still does Series Links and it still does Wishlists. So it's a Tivo.

So that completely excuses it losing a variety of its most useful features from a Series 1 Tivo does it?

Whilst you always claim to be unemployed given your repeated devotion to justifying ever part of Virgin Media's product offerings as they are it would be tempting to believe that you are actually covertly in the pay of Virgin as one of their marketing staff.

What a shame this celebratory thread had to be marred with petty bickering. I got weary of it on tivocommunity, and I really didn't expect it here and especially not in this thread of all threads.

Dont panic Mrtickle, I think its just a bit general banter, just a bit of jest

Back to the pivotal stage stuff, I can report that I've said to my extremely worried 70yr old mother about how well your all doing and I can tell you the smile and joy that went across her face folks was worth its weight in gold 8)

Keep it up cos we only got a few weeks left now

Just wanted to add my own thanks to the team in putting all this work together.

I've just put one of our two Tivo's live this weekend and Automan's guide on setting up using a Standard Tivo image was absolutely spot on and simple to follow.

Many thanks !

I'd like to add my thanks to the team for their initiative and hard work. My test Tivo seems to be working fine with the Alternate EPG.

Switch over to new EPG worked ok (via internet, turbocard), with Freeview input.

However, TiVo has rebooted a number of times today since ingesting the first guide download this morning.

The last one in the tverr log was:

It looks like it is objecting to the lack of a currently valid program signal source from those codes rather than having any issues with processing the data. Tivo automatically reboots when it doesn't find a valid signal available on the current program source for a certain number of minutes.

Just wish to add my thanks, new altEPG seems to be working fine.

Well done, don't know what I would do without my trusty tivo.

No I don't think it's that one, I've seen that error before too. It says something much more obvious about the lack of a TV signal. "signal -2" will be something to do with the Linux side of things. The logs show it has also died on "signal 11" (which is the more obvious SIGSEGV - a segmentation fault, i.e. a bug in the program but almost certainly triggered on by bad input.)

This seems to be something associated with Season passes and Guide data (which would be much more likely, having just made the EPG switch). This thread, from 2004/5, http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showt ... hp?t=35185, has suggestions of clearing out wishlists and season passes, and clearing out program guide data and todo data.

I've just tidied up a lot of duplicate wishlist entries that I had after running mikerr's Season pass convertor a few times, and I'll see if that makes any difference before I reset the guide data.

The Tivo I updated to AltEPG with Guided Setup on Saturday I think only had three or four Season Passes and one Wishlist on it so may be that is why I didn't have the problem even though I didn't clear out my thumbs or Wishlists and SPs when I ran Guided Setup to the AltEPG.

As my main Tivo has around 150 Season Passes and 50 Wishlists this seems like it could be much more of an issue for that.

As Mike has only just released his SP to Wishlist conversion utility I suppose that might also be doing something nasty to the data that hasn't yet properly revealed itself to the world at large at this stage.

We've only got one TiVo.
The wife loves it and has said she'd rather get rid of the fridge that the TiVo.

I have a terbonet card in a packet with drivers.
I have also downloaded the AltEPG image and burnt to disk.

Before I wipe the TiVo, I decided to try the method of changing the dialling prefix, setting post code to "01000" and then doing a guided setup.

BY FLIPPITY - IT ONLY WENT AND WORKED!!!

I am so impressed with the work done. It's JUST worked.

The new EPG seems better then the old. The series/ episode number is a absolute gift. We'd miss an episode before and have to search on the intetnets for the the number that corresponded with the title to download it from a dodgy source. Or, I'd see an episode of Family Guy and think "is that from series 3 - which I have seen?". Now it's just better.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE FOR ALL THE WORK.

I will put the AltEPG image on when I get a large disk drive (currently 2x 120Gb), but for now it works.
Now - How can I help?
