Turbonet connection problem - card light flashes

Have an (oldepg) 300Gb TiVo with a Turbonet card.
Plse tell me - does a Turbonet card use its green network light to "flash" faults/fault codes?
Am now unable to access or ping the TiVo (plse see below) & have noticed that the green light on the Turbonet card is flashing on and off - about three seconds on, three seconds off, repeated several times, then steady on for 6-10 secs.
Given that I can't access the TiVo I guess this is not just indicating normal network activity?
Also plse how can I check the boot sequence includes the instruction to start/use Turbonet? I can run NIC_Config (with the drive hung off a PC) to check/reset IP & gateway stored on TiVo, so I guess the correct /var/hack whatever is still there. As I can't access/ping the TiVo I wonder if somehow boot is not looking for Turbonet (or is somehow pointed to a wrong driver such as Cachecard).
TiVo records & plays programmes fine, so the drive is functional at that level.
This TiVo was in store for a while, recently put back to use. Initially I thought router settings might not match those in NIC_Config. But can't connect whatever IP & gateway I put in.
Nor can SoftPerfect's network scanner find the tiVo.
All thoughts much appreciated.
