trying to set up some FRO season passes and the FAQ says set them up as wishlists with say gossip girl (s5*)

which is fine, if i could see a ( or * on the choices i have on the screen)

So is this feaure for networked ones only? (in which case maybe update te FAQ) or how do i do the symbols :D

(am so stoked that my tivo has been happily running since the summer with no issues!)

Hi.

* is entered using the Slow key. Brackets aren't available. I would use S5E* rather than S5* - not a problem in this case, but trying to find series 2 of Haven I found S2* was picking up dozens of programmes from series 20+ of other shows [as the SnEn text appears in the description rather than the episode name, the wishlist has to be keyword rather than title, so it finds all shows of any series with the text anywhere is the title, episode name or description, and lots of descriptions contain the word haven!]

Also when you create these WLs I would always recommend you put quotes around your programme title with the pause key, ie:

"GOSSIP GIRL" S5E*
instead of
GOSSIP GIRL S5E*

Otherwise, you'll get every programme that's in Season 5 of something that contains both your words anywhere they may appear. You only want the matches were the word "girl" is immediately after the word "gossip".

Depending on the title of the programme you could get loads of false matches.

The create keyword wishlist entry screen does contain instructions on both these on the right hand side, although "to match all endings" doesn't eplicitly tell you "this is going to enter a *" :-)

thanks guys, that works now!

(can't see any reference on the right of the keyword section about the Match all ends, i just have the a-0 selector on the left and "done" on the right.

so maybe worth updating the FAQ to show how to do the *.

Yep. I think you get a different set of help when creating a wishlist to editing a wishlist. Try creating one and you should see it!

I have not used "Wish list" that much only "season pass" So if I wanted only season 2 of Fringe not the whole the series of Fringe Tivo "wish list" would only record all of season 2 when it's on yes ?

A keyword wishlist for
Code: Select all
"FRINGE" S2E*

would record all episodes where the word Fringe and a word starting with S2E appear anywhere in the [title + synopsis]. You have to use a keyword wishlist, not a title wishlist, because the (sNNeNN) is within the synopsis. NB This requires our season and episode numbers to be correct in the guide data. For Fringe, since May the Db is filled with all Season 2, 3 and what's been shown so far of Season 4 - all correct so you're ok on that score.

Tivo wishlists don't have a way of filtering (ie adding "not"), and unfortunately fringe is a single word, so you'll also get every other episode from Season 2 of every series where the word "fringe" appears anywhere. In this case to be honest, you're better off setting a SP and using tivoweb tracker or tivoweb+ tracker or blocklist modules to get rid of unwanted episodes, that way you'll at least know what caused them to be added to your ToDo list. Otherwise you might get something odd matching, not nothing the word 'fringe' at first and think your tivo is going mad!

Sky+ doesn't. A HTPC running Windows Media Center has similar functionality to a wishlist as does the Topfield 5800, although the latter relies on 3rd party add-ons to do so.
