Failed. Number not answering.

Using diapup to 0845 0800 300. Have been getting "Failed. Number not answering." for about 36 hours now. Is it me? Is it the Modem I am trying to connect to?

It's not you. The 0845 0800 300 number seems to be out of action at the moment. Please use 01612329094 instead until it's fixed.

Oooh no it isn't! Just saw this thread and see that my last successful call was the 16th. Forced a call a few minutes ago and still not answering.

I spoke to LondonWeb, they have reset the equipment and believe it should all be working again.

Still says 'number not answering' for me.
Tried it twice around 1900.
I dialled the number with my phone as well, and it answers and whistles at me. I whistled back but it wouldn't tell me what time the Grand Prix was on this weekend. :?

0845 0800 300 at 8:45pm tonight. "Failed. Couldn't connect."

Tried again at 8:50 and watched the Last Call Status. Got "Dialling" then "Answered" then "Connecting" for five or so seconds and now the message is "Failed. Number not answering."

Sorry for cross posting but this seems the more active thread. I succeeded in using the 08450800300 number at around 19:30, but first I changed the server ip address in tclientUK.conf to point directly at the altepg server. I wonder if the reason calls to this number are failing for others is that the magic to redirect the TiVo server ip address to the altepg ip address is broken.

Since you got through ok with the direct AltEPG IP in your tclient which proves the modem bank is answering ok, your diagnosis made sense so I passed on your comments to Jamie at LondonWeb, however they have not been able to find fault with the Tivo to AltEPG IP re-direct either.
Pointing to 204.176.49.3 (TiVos old IP) through their gateway redirects to AltEPG as it should, so we're a bit confused at the moment!?

I guess the other changes would be the TiVo is now using a dial-in configuration code of 127, and the old TiVo phone number is no longer being sent after the 08450800300. Previous to the change last successful call was wednesday 16th. I'll post back in a few days to say whether it is still working OK or not. FYI - the TiVo is my mothers so access is difficult.

Edit: For the avoidance of doubt the TiVo is using a standard image and had previously just had 08450800300 in the dial prefix. The only hacks were a serial bash prompt and endpad.

Just tried again at 7:30pm and it seems to be working fine again.

Took about 30 mins to download, which is longer than usual.

Hi

Firstly I want to apologise for any inconvenience you may have suffered as a result of the recent dialup problem.

We eventually isolated the cause of our problem at an authentication application (RADIUS Server) we specifically put in place to handle the wildcard *@tivo.net user authentications on our 0845 dialup systems. This particular application server failed to autostart after a maintenance reboot within our network and was not picked up by any of our other users due to the uniqueness of this configuration. We have adjusted the parameters and this type of issue should now not reoccur. Any users that have previoulsy edited their dialup configuration scripts would probably have been immune to this problem further making our diagnosis a little more lengthy than normal.

If there are any future issues with the 0845 number please PM me via this forum so I am notified and can start debug a little quicker.

By all accounts things seem back to normal now.

Could be the 1000 or so TiVo's are playing catch up due to the outage, it will be Tomrrow morning before I'll be able to try (when my free calls start)
