TiVo not powering up, only installed yesterday.

Postby misspinpointeyes » Fri Dec 23, 2011 11:05 am

I was wondering if maybe anyone could help me about this, (apologies if this isn't posted under the correct sub-heading by the way, but I'm new, so please forgive me!) but I had TiVo installed yesterday, had been really looking forward to it, and everything was working fine. I then made the (apparently fatal) mistake of switching it to stand by when I went out. Come back home, try to switch it on - nothing. I tried all the relevant buttons on the remote - nothing. I've done all the reboots suggested in the manual, they do nothing and an engineer can't come out until the 29th :(

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and whether anyone knows what's happened and why it's happened? I'm just so annoyed and rather disappointed.

All the lights on the box are on, but apparently, nobody's home!

Are you sure the tv is set to the right AV input (that the TiVo is connected to)?

Yeah, it's definitely on the right input. :( I have read somewhere something to do with the box not recognising the hdmi cable, or something like that? But I really have no idea, I spent hours searching for answers last night and didn't get anywhere. I have a vague understanding of this kinda thing but this has stumped me, and my more technologically minded friends!

You had TiVo installed yesterday, and an engineer is coming out on the 29th?

So you have a Virgin TiVo then? If so you're in the wrong place  . This forum is for continuing use of the decade-old Thomson TiVo as heavily marketed by Sky from 2000-2002 with a volunteer service. There might be someone with a Virgin TiVo here, but I think you'll find miles more help at http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/fo ... y.php?f=69 which is a dedicated forum for Virgin TiVo users . Look for someone called Carl, he's always got an answer for everything :) .
