HI. I have closed sortnp (pressing 8 ). Is there anyway to restart it without a reboot?

Yes if you have a bash prompt. Have you got a bash prompt? Have you got a network card?

It's very difficult to give you a direct answer if there's no knowledge of your setup.

Hi. Sorry. Series 1 tivo, cachecard with the usual software. running tivoweb1.9.4
PC with vista
No idea how to get a bash prompt with Vista. Managed my initial set up with XP but have changed computer since. A detailed step guide would be very much appreciated!

This is the wrong forum to be asking for help with Vista! If you don't know how to do it then I suggest that rebooting tivo is by far the easiest option.

If you happen to be running altepg 1.0c or later and can get to a bash prompt then the command is:
Code: Select all
/hack/sortnp/startup

However I'm guessing that by "the usual software" you mean something else, in which case I doubt that will work.

Many thanks. I am sure I can get a bash prompt, could hook up an old laptop with XP.

Am running altepg

Sounds like it would be much easier for you to just reboot in this case. Unless you are regularly in the habit of accidentally quitting sortnp :)
