This is my original TiVo used for 8 years up to last Dec. It was working 100% when last used,

I opened it up for the first time when it looked as though tivo3 had died, but wasn't need in the end. Maybe its a good idea to open them up and clean them once every year or two?

Wow! That's pretty filthy!

I tend to blow the dust out of mine whenever I open it, which tends to be ever couple of years at least I'd say for various bits and pieces. Eight years' dust is very impressive though.

This one had never been opened up for tweaking etc.
