TiVo not showing on router

My TiVo connects via the router and downloads the EPG fine but when I log into my router it never shows TiVo as being connected - hence I haven't been able to access the TiVo from my PC for over a year now. How can this be?

You are using altepg1.0d on your TiVo so it will display its IP address when it boots up. You will have to wait while your cachecard loads, then the message will be (briefly) displayed showing yourTiVo's IP address.

OK I'll have a look at that thanks. It always used to be shown when I logged into the router then disappeared forever a year ago.

After disappearing from my plusnet router for few years TiVo is now showing again as 192.168.1.71 but I still can't access it. Have tried different browsers.

Good that's progress :)

It's possible the interface is running on a different "port" to normal, or perhaps TivoWeb isn't currently running.

Your next step is to connect to the TiVo using "telnet" (or similar, e.g. Putty). You can then run

Code: Select all
 netstat -an | grep tcp

which will show you whether TW is running and on which port.

(note the "|" is the 'pipe' symbol, which is next to the Z on many keyboards)

I am not familiar with telnet or putty but bizarrely I also managed to access TiVo from my browser for the first time in a couple of years just now. I was hoping to edit (remove lots of) the season passes but with 300 it seems way too slow a process.

BTW great to see someone on here I thought everyone had gone. I wonder what folk moved on to from TiVo as I got a Humax 5000T but found it so hard to use we ended up carrying on with the TiVo. If anything is taking over its catch up for us.
