Which Linux distro?

Which distro do I need to be able to compile binaries for running on the S1 box? My google mojo appears to be failing me. I've also tried hunting around for something with the 2.1.24 kernel, to no avail. Although I did find the source changes added by TiVo Inc.

Well I tried an image of Debian 2.1 that I found. Installer was in German, so that was fun. Couldn't get it to work inside VirtualBox though. Back to the drawing board.

You need to get the appropriate PowerPC cross-compiler setup for the S1 box.

It's been a while since I last knocked one up but it is not that difficult to do and there is absolutely no reason to use some ancient Linux (in fact it will just make your life a LOT harder). Recent Debian/Ubuntu etc. will be just fine to 'host' the cross-compiler :).

You will also need the kernel headers for the 2.5.* image on the UK TiVo, if you can't find them I am sure I have them somewhere on my server.

I did some cross-compiling for the Tivo a few years back ... I'm pretty sure I did it all on my Windows XP box.

I might be able to dig out the details at the weekend if it helps.

Thanks guys - been away (without internet ) so not been on here in a while. I'll see what gcc options I've got on my Ubuntu machine and start from there.
