What Happened?

Has your Tivo made a last call today? Did anything different happen, did you get any message?

What has changed in your TiVo Account Status?

Most importantly, can your TiVo still play back recordings from the disk?

Any information would be gratefully received.

Just checked mine....

It made a call at 3.12am this morning (31st May 2011) and still says "Account in Good Standing".

Programme data up till 21st June 2011...

I've not tried the AltEPG yet...

It's not today's call you should be worried about - it's tonight's/tomorrow's.

But surely there won't be another call? The service is withdrawn from tomorrow, which I assume means midnight tonight.

Does anyone know which thread they will let us know when the ALTEPG is live on and the 0161 number?

But your tivo doesn't know that. It will still try to make a Daily Call whenever one is scheduled or you ask it to. i.e. it won't stop calling just because the service is closed.

Well, that is the purpose of this thread, to discover what today's call does. It seems that you may be right, and that there will be a call tomorrow, which will fail, and hopefully that won't do any harm. But it could have been that today's call stopped TiVos from making any more calls, and any other effects that TiVo Inc. desired, such as blocking replay, etc.

So we may as well disconnect the phone connection now anyway, until we are ready to connect to AltEPG?

It might not even be tomorrow... could be the day after.

The daily call slice is prepared by TiVo Inc during the day and made available to us around 8pm UK time. So the Daily Call your tivo makes overnight tonight was actually prepared lunchtime on the 31st California time. i.e. pre 1st June. So if anything is going to hapen it might not be until tomorrow night/morning of the 2nd (UK time).

Confusing isn't it. Nice of TiVo Inc. to explain in detail exactly what is going to happen and when. Ah no wait a minute there...

It's a bit like looking forward to Christmas, if you happen to be a turkey

Well, I've just had my daily call. Absolutely normal, and no message. Now the Next Scheduled call has been set to tomorrow, and presumably that call will fail with no dial tone. If we were going to get any software change, there would be a Pending Restart message, and the change would happen at 2am, I think. So nothing will happen, will it?

Does the next scheduled call date keep getting reset to next day, even if no successful call is made?

Are you assuming that they will leave their modems switched on, and just withdraw useful information? So tomorrow's call won't fail, well not with a no-dial-tone error? I think I'll unplug the phone now...

Yes.

I think they will leave the modems on for a couple of weeks so that people can still dial-in and so they can set everyone's status to 8: Account Closed. (Just my opinion). Along with one last rubbish VM marketing message about upgrading to a non-existent service.

I've just unplugged mine ;)
