I have just found that at least one TiVo has not been dropping the line after it's daily call.
This results in as you can guess a large phone bill!!
Can you all please be conscious of this.
In the past this would not have been a problem due to the calls been FOC

Ok - Thanks. I have been using 0845 1112111 without charge (TalkTalk). Don't know how long this will be the case, though.

I wonder if there is any possibility of the receiving modem dropping the line after an hour or so. I realise that it is not usually possible for a phone on the receiving end to do this but perhaps a technical solution could be engineered.

Some setup calls can take more than an hour! How long to make it before the drop is the problem.
And it will be de-commissioned as soon as the other 0161 lines go line next week.

The 01274 number will now FORCE a call drop after 2 hours.
This may be a problem if you connect at very low speeds (for the initial setup call), however based on the stats, this should be ok.

Sounds good - will the 0161 lines also do this when they come on stream?

Well done chaps. The Tivos do latch up on the phone very occasionally. While it was not a problem with the old free phone line, the prospect of this happening while the user is away for a couple of weeks does not bear thinking about! This may prove a very useful effort.
