record time limit

Think I've put this in the right thread.
On the tivo, when I pressed the record button it used to record until I stopped it or it ran out of room but now it seems to record for 30 minutes then stop. Is there a way to set this for longer or turn it off as 99% of the programs I record are 1 hour or longer, not 30 minutes.

When you press the record button it should record the currently viewing program for however long that program has left to run.

Neither 30 mins or for ever make any sense to me.?

Do you mean on a channel with no data ?

Or are you talking about the live buffer size (standard 30 mins, up to 3 hours with bufferhack) ?

Otherwise it will record until the end of the programme - which is surely the whole point of a PVR!

It's a channel with no data, if the program starts at say, 5pm it will stop at 5:30pm and you have to press record again to get the last 30 minutes (stops at 6pm) then repeat. each time getting a separate recording that you would have to get off the tivo, join and either watch or then re upload back to tivo to watch.
with the old EPG it would record in three hour "blocks" or part thereof, so it would record for 3 hours or until the end of that "block"

does AltEPG have bufferhack as I seem to have 3hours buffer by default.

I could be wrong, but I believe in that scenario, the default was always 30 mins.

maybe it's a case of the 3 hour blocks starting at the wrong point. could it be that the original EPG started on the hour and this one starts half past the hour? that would explain why it ends half way through a 1 hour program (all the programs start on the hour on the channel)

is it not possible to use the sky epg service? I noticed Tivoland.com drive said the new epg was like using sky+ but better, but a lot of the channels don't have data but Sky does (I don't have a + box, just the old regular sky box)
