This is just a big vote of thanks to whoever was responsible in the AltEPG team for bringing back the movie year of first airing and movie star ratings that we previously used to enjoy and love in the Tribune EPG. :P

This change has been noted and is very much appreciated by both me and I would hope many other AltEPG users. :D :D :D

Nothing underlying has changed recently - it's been like that for weeks. But thanks for your thanks!

It wasn't like that at the end of June when I tested AltEPG on my dialup Tivo. When I queried star ratings and year having gone missing at that time I was told we couldn't expect to have all these things in the AltEPG.

Also with regard to the re-introduction of TMSIDs what exactly is the background to this or what exactly is its intended purpose when the official recommended upgrade route to AltEPG was to either use the AltEPG image on a fresh install or do a Clear and Delete everything on an existing Tivo setup? If the TMSIDs could have been there at the outset then obviously Season Passes and Suggestions based on old thumbs could have carried on uninterrupted but with most people having either done a fresh install or at least having cleared out thumbs and lost their Season Passes that isn't going to generally be the case.

In my own case tragically I cleared eight and a half years worth of thumbs to try to cure another problem I was getting with Wishlists and Guided Setup getting confused on a dual Sky install (by not offering the tv Digibox part of the setup process and offering the radio Digibox codes where that should have been offered) but I did so believing that TMSIDs were gone forever only to find out a few hours later they were in the course of being brought back. To say this was a little upsetting is to put it somewhat mildly.

Interesting use of the word "tragically", and if you found that deeply upsetting, well...

My understanding is that TMSIDs have been re-introduced as some modules etc needed them. However they are not the same ID numbers as existed before.

Yes it was. You must have looked at films where the ratings weren't in the data. Star Ratings were added to the data in mid-June, and that's a fact. I've been fixing some of the data and ratings on TVGuide myself. But feel free to call me a liar again if you like, so that I can put you on ignore as many other people have.

"What exactly" is your reason for thinking you can use that tone? You came here thanking us, and quickly dropped back to your old behaviour. Disappointing but not surprising.

It's such a major change to the underlying systems there was no way it could be added earlier. It's in testing for those who are prepared to help out.

If the TMSIDs could have been there at the outset

There is no way TmsIds could have been added to the project sooner due to the resources and time-scales involved. The time-scale from now on depends on many things too; tracked programmes need to have their disc space overwritten before the tracker processes them; on a big tivo that's many weeks. The test TiVos need time to bed in to make sure there are no problems. People are busy and have lives. Other plates wobble and need attention at short notice. Etc.

In my own case tragically

It wasn't a tragedy. No-one died.

I cleared eight and a half years worth of thumbs [...] but I did so believing that TMSIDs were gone forever

Can't help if you believed that. Eventually we'd like to replicate as much of the previous system as possible, and this has always been abundantly clear. The advice is not to switch to AltEPG by just re-running GS from a Tribune start, due to many serious crashes by people who tried having two sets of data on their tivos. So both switching options involve losing Tribune thumbs. That's nothing to do with whether or not TmsIds were/are added.

only to find out a few hours later they were in the course of being brought back. To say this was a little upsetting is to put it somewhat mildly.

Well, to say that you are a little ungrateful is to put it somewhat mildly.
