Upgraded UK Tivo plus original HDD available

Postby db298 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 12:35 pm

I've just replaced my parents' Tivo with the impending cessation of the Tivo service, and the fact that our area is being switched to HD in April. They are currently finishing off watching any recordings they have on it, but in a few week's time, they will be done with it. It's got an upgraded disc (can't recall how big I'm afraid), the original disc, the remote, and all the wiring and I think packaging.

I've been a huge fan of Tivo for years, and I'm very fond of the unit - I'd prefer not just to throw it away. If anyone here would like it, and are prepared to cover p&p (say £9?) then I'd be happy to send it to you when they've finished with it.

First come first served ;)

Very generous, I'm sure someone will be able to make good use of it.

Shame we are losing another user though :-(

I agree it is a shame, but this is my parents we are talking about, so even if some new phoenix of a service raises from the ashes by the dedicated people here, it will almost inevitably be too convoluted to be of use to them - I gave them the Tivo for it's simplicity.

For the record, I'm afraid my own Tivo found a new home when I moved to using Media Centre on a HTPC, which just gave me a lot more flexibility and functionality.

Alex - PM me your details, and I'll let you have Paypal details for postage?

The intention is for the new System in general to be no different to the end user.
We are still investigating how we will invoke the redirection from the old mothership to the new one, but at worst it will be no different to someone upgrading their HDD via a swap-out procedure as necessary every few years anyway when the HDD's wear out from being on 24x7.

Alek,

Yes, all still on, but as I said it will take a couple of weeks for them to watch off their last shows from the unit. I wasn't going to send you payment details until it's ready to go, as I don't want you to pay before you have to.

I'll be in touch ;)
