Advice on Smart TV

Postby Anna » Tue Dec 23, 2014 11:46 am

We now need to replace our fairly old TV and I was hoping to buy a SMART one. Does anyone happen to know whether this is likely to affect the connection? For example, could we plug the tivo into the build-in wi-fi? Is there a particular model I should go for? I have a dread of massive TVs, so 32" is really our limit. I was actually going for LG 28LB490U. Does the model matter at all? I know tivo can't make use of the built-in freeview so we have a separate top box for that
I would be very grateful for some guidance before I make an expensive mistake.

Hi Anna -

Any TV with a SCART socket should work with your Tivo, the model you refer to looks fine.

The "built-in Wifi" just means the TV can connect to your existing WiFi without needing any other connectors or adaptors, it won't affect how your Tivo connects to your network (a pair of homeplugs from memory?)

Happy Christmas!

Is your broadband ok for speed ?

Ours would have been no good until our recent upgrade
