Good idea, we need to get word out that TiVo S1 isnt dead, while a TV ad campaign might be a bit beyond our pockets, theres always youtube 8)

The Gadget Show and the BBC's Click seems to be the only tech type shows on terrestrial TV at the moment (if I'm not wrong).

According to their website T.G.S. email address is: customerservicegadgetshow@channel5.com and Click has a contact page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/c ... efault.stm. Surely they are worth a shot, for a time when a press release is created?

I'd imagine that The Register would be happy to run a piece...

May I suggest that the short-coming with publicising the alternative EPG through "techie" channels is that many TiVo S1 users are neither techies nor perhaps even computer-users - so would never see a notice posted through that type of channel.
I suspect most users who are sufficiently techie will have already googled & found the tivocommunity forum; which will have led them to this forum. So they know already.

Allow me to re-iterate an earlier post:

"How about:

- consumer websites such as http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/
Moneysavingexpert is, I believe, VERY approachable. The site had 9.5 MILLION (unique) visitors in March & sends a weekly email newsletter to 6 MILLION. Surely enough friends and family to spread the word to TiVo S1 owners?

or http://www.which.co.uk onsite and/or a Which? magazine news item"

I agree with other posters that any publicity initiative should happen now; by June 1st unenlightened users may well have sought/purchased an alternative.

Darn good point. Family members and other users I know with Tivo's aren't particularly techhy.

At the very least, if it hasn't been done already, does someone have the exact text for the nag messages so we can put a word-for-word up somewhere that Google will find really quickly? Cos if it was me, I'd probably Google the exact message and see what it turned up.

Unless some enterprising soul has accomplished that already :-)

Firstly, hi all. Very late joining and I hope some may remember me from tivocommunity. I was a beta tester for 2.5.5, and one of the two forum users that Gary Sargent picked to meet TiVoTed for lunch in London in early 2002. On that day I begged, literally, for radio 4 listings and we got them shortly afterwards! I also like to think I was responsible for saving us all from some of the more egregious Americanisms that almost made it unchanged into the 2.5.5 software (such as "Are you done with this program" instead of "Have you finished with this programme?")

As I only have 1 tivo I can't really beta test, but of course when the Tribune data stops I have nothing to lose.

I'm most willing to help with guide data corrections for as long as I keep my TiVo into the future.

Interesting that the earliest of these messages is quoted as coming from Tivo Inc rather than Tivo UK. Also well done on having captured the whole sequence of messages.

I'm one of the original TiVo trialists and I still love my silver box. My programming skills are very rusty but I'm happy to offer my help tidying the EPG.
