Mode 0

I would like to add mode 0 to the new altepg6 if its not too difficult.

I have seen instructions to add it to the official disk. But since some things are added to the altepg already, I don't have the smarts to figure it out.

Could someone, in words of one syllable or less tell me what's needed.

Mode 0 can use a lot more disk space, so its proably better for an individual to do if they want it.

That will change the resolution to 720 instead of 544 lines

The bitrate will also need increasing in resource editor, i changed mine to 7000000

You can do better than that! I have mine set to 4800000 VBR and 9000000 Max and it works fine. I also changed the High to Mode 0 and use this for suggestions at a lower Quality setting (80 I think) to save a bit of disk space.

I fancied giving Mode 0 a try but read this thread and scared myself...

Now I am on AltEPG 1.0d do I need to do anything other than initiate Kickstart 53?

If it is more complicated than that, is there some kind guru out there prepared to give me step by step instructions? Please?

Yes kickstart 53 is all you need to do - as described here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=626

Alternatively if you have telnet access to your tivo, it is probably easier to run these two commands:

/hack/setup/setupMode0v2.tcl


You need to reboot after.
