I just tried a test call to standard tivo number - failed, no answer again! What date did you get BBC listings to?

Was due to do a daily call at 03:39, but somehow it made a successful call at 07:00. This seems as if something got reset, maybe. Data to 10 July, Next call 07:11 tomorrow. Using 0207.

My networked TiVo made a successful daily call at 11:02 am today (4 hours after ByThe Cringe) but (at 6:50 pm) is saying Guide data to 9 July (1 day earlier than ByTheCringe). :?: :?:

I think it's just the ambiguity - "up to (and not including)" vs "up to (and including)"?

ie,
Code: Select all
/var/log # cat Otclient | grep "Last day"
06/20:05:57:56: /tvbin/TClient:  Last day of programming data for SKYRADIO is 15163
06/20:05:57:51: /tvbin/TClient:  Last day of programming data for 0001172 is 15163
06/20:05:57:56: /tvbin/TClient:  Last day of programming data for SKYRADIO is 15163

15163=Fri 8th Jul. (add that number of days in Excel to 01 01 1970, the date of the Epoch).

The channel guide module in tivoweb won't let me see past that date, and that day's listings contain several "to be announced"s anyway - but I can get to the Sat 9th Jul page manually by nefarious means. When I do so there's only half a day's worth of programmes and gaps for the rest. HTH

I have free anytime (including 0845) calls, but both the 0207 and the 0845 numbers are charged (14p) so presumably they are known as internet numbers rather than talk lines
Still learning ..

Mainly because I tend to forget what I have already learned .. I think

Anyone still getting connected to the standard tivo frephone number?
Tried last night wothout any prefixes but like last week I jsu got connection failures.
Someone reported connection to this number earlier this week but at the moment it seems to be dead as far as I can see.

My Cachecarded networked Tivo is still getting data normally every single day and made its last successful call last night (Tuesday 21st June) at 8pm and now has Programme Guide Data to 12th July.

My dialup Tivo showed as not making a successful call since 12.06am on Monday 20th June and showed a failed call at 4.25am this morning (Wednesday 22nd June) to the London 020 number so I just forced a daily call now on Wednesday 22nd June at 2.35pm and the call went through Connecting, Getting Account Status and Downloading successfully and is now at Loading Data, 31% with 17 minutes to go. :D

So it seems that there is something about the London 020 number that makes it only work on certain calls and especially most of all only during the weekday daytime hours.

Maybe there's no-one there to answer overnight or at weekends ?

It answers and bills you for a call every single time it is called 24/7 but mainly calls don't get beyond the Connecting... stage

So it appears that some modems that take the call on this number are still configured for Tivo's access protocols and others are not. As the odd person also had success at the weekend but much less than in the weekday daytime there seems to be no consistent pattern to why it does or does not work.

Total conjecture. Why not just stick with the factually accurate
Pete77 wrote:there seems to be no consistent pattern to why it does or does not work.

rather than making up theories which have no supporting factual evidence at all, and are in all likelhood total nonsense.

(I mean come on, how likely is it that certain modems will be configured differently to others - the authentication isn't even done in the modem itself; it's done in a back-end RADIUS server. They're probably not even individual modems but a server box containing 8, 16 or 24 modem cards each).
