Recommendations for cheap TiVo-compatible freeview box

Postby tivosoon » Wed Jun 27, 2012 8:14 pm

It's very embarrassing: but I've lost the remote for my freeview box (a Pioneer DBF TR100). Of course I've not used it for years, because it's really the TiVo's freeview box, and Tivo uses the IR blaster to switch channels on it. From time to time the box would automatically scan for new channels, all was well.

But a few months ago our area (Meridian) had a major change which required complete re-turning. And I can't access the menus to make the Pioneer box do that, so it's completely useless! I've searched everywhere for the remote, can't find it. Tried a cheap all-in-one remote, didn't work. Borrowed someone else's old freeview box, but it didn't play very nicely with TiVo.

Much as I hate to do it, since the remote is undoubtedly somewhere in the house, I think it's time to accept defeat and buy TiVo a new freeview box to watch through.

So given that it needs no functionality other than to provide SCART to TiVo, and RF pass-through - can any recommend a very basic unit that TiVo knows how to change channel on?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

There are a few Sony VTX D800U stb's on ebay at the moment, they are generally regarded as good with a TiVo.

I am able to control my Pioneer STB with a Pronto so a programmable remote should be able to do it.
The codes should be on the web somewhere - try http://www.remotecentral.com
If not, someone with a pronto and pioneer STB remote can post them. ;)

Where abouts in the meridian area are you?
I am Southampton based
