set top box... (upgrade)

Postby dotdot » Sat Jun 30, 2012 9:28 pm

hello everyone.

i have a tivo series on with.... a new hd (cheers tivoland) .. and old proverbial set top box... (netgem).
..it loses it's bearings several time a week so it requires a regular reboot (stb - not the tivo..).

anyway i was thinking.. can i not just can this stb and .. venture over into an hd stb.. which might not be as erratic ?
..only problem is... which one people ?

can someone recommend one.. which will work with the ir boosters and has the codes in the guided setup ?

..hope you can help !!

all the best

..

(oh and yeah i live in a virgin covered area.. even use them for the phone... but no .. i shall not be getting one of their boxes.... the one i have works fine.. thank you very muchly..)

I've found the Humax HD-Fox T2 reliable with a TiVo and the code is built in. As a bonus plug in an external hard drive and the Humax functions as a PVR so you can use it to record in HD should you wish to.

Late reply,

But the Vestel T8300 I listed in this thread works fine:

And Asda were recently selling the Luxor Version for £15.

Also there is the Technisat HDFV it works but it disables RGB on Scart if also using HDMI to the TV (unlike the T8300), like the Humax above it also has a USB socket to add HDD or USB memory stick for PVR use. Asda were recently selling it for just under £30 and Dixons groups companies for £35.
