Network card

Does anybody have a surplus network card they want rid of?
The dialup 0845 number is costing a fortune, as the calls are longer than an hour. Alternatively, Is there a way to keep the call length less than 60mins, thus making it free on most call deals?

Over 60 minutes seems excessive - are you only calling once a week or something? If you are calling Daily I'd expect shorter calls.

A word of warning about the 0845 calls and free deals - I'm not sure who you are using but BT for instance does charge. The small print of most calling plans excludes internet access numbers like these so they are always charged for, even if less than 60 minutes.

Another option you might want to take a look at is using a serial connection to a PC. That allows the TiVo to piggy back on the PC Internet connection. See viewtopic.php?f=16&t=464

One more thing which will save money: Switch to the TmsId slices (in the AltEPG TiVo Account Management section) if you haven't done it yet. Not only do these benefit from the longer descriptions, but the slices are constructed in a different way which reduces duplication of data, so the overall amount of data to download is less than the old slices.

NB: if you use Tracker you should do a "clear all programme data" after you have switched and got the first set of TmsID slices, otherwise you'll be stuck with the old Series objects on your TiVo which it will continue to use.
