Version 3 works, but despite the significant gap in the numbering scheme, there is very little real difference between the OS's and a list of negatives including NTSC menu's etc that make 2.5.5 the obvious preferred choice.

Can I ask will the Tivo with it guide and layout at the moment we see on our Tivo change at all when the hard drive is update and starts to use the new EPG will we notice anything new in the Tivo that we are not seeing now ?

The menus and user interface will be the same which is kinda why so many TiVo users want to keep being TiVo users!

Good to hear virgin media Tivo just just does not look like a Tivo to me I loved the layout of the Tivo and that silly cartoon with the tivo logo on start up still makes my smile when I see it sad I know lol the only thing I hate is when I see sky digital thing at the start.

We always reboot our two TiVos one slightly after the other so I can watch the animation twice ;-)

Also, I would miss TiVo's little wiggle he does on the menu screens.

Having had a Windows Media Center for a whole three weeks now I have to say... thank TiVoGod it looks like we'll be saving the TiVos. It's *vile*. So the announcement at the start of this thread has made two more TiVoers very happy. :D

just wanted to add a sincere, if belated, thanks for all your efforts in pulling this together, our group of family and friends run around 15 Tivos between us, and the thought of trying to move parents, aunts and uncles to a different system was daunting.

I recently bought a FreeSat HD+ box now that F1 has gone HD, but the interface is nearly as bad as SKY+ and so far it has failed to record anything I set it for - though one did pop up after the programme had finished... Fortunately we also left a Tivo season pass on, so we've watched that instead, it's got one last chance with the Chinese GP this weekend then it's back to the shop for a refund as 'unfit for purpose'.

Happy to pay for whatever is needed to keep out Tivos alive - whether that's a self install image, or pre-formatted hard-drive.

Really happy about this guys - thanks for all the hard work. Now I'm considering breaking out my backup tivo to get that going with the new stuff first....

This is really exciting.

That's probably the best news for some time. It will make the other half of the family very happy, as i tried to show her how to program up the 3-view box and all I got was' why doesn't it work like the Tivo?'
Is there any timescale as to when you hope to have a version for release?
Many thanks to all those supplying the effort!

Tivo remove service on 31st May so the target release date for the replacement service is 1st June.

(It cannot be sooner for moral reasons)

Thank you all so much for the work. If I still had up to date IT skills rather than their being 15 years out of date, I should have loved to have been involved in this.

I look forward to paying my subscription to the new service, although I'm sure you're not doing it for the money.

All the very best.

Keep up the excellent work - looking forward to trying it out

Dave,

I'm very much encouraged by your latest screen shots as its more inclined to make me feel that something is really happening and that some form of alternative EPG service will hopefully be in place by June 1st.

I wish that there was something more I could do to help out as I am pretty good at scanning through lists of data sorted alphabetically, by date and by numeric order etc, etc to spot data items that immediately scream that they are wrong or not being maintained like the other data items are.

Whilst I do appreciate that I may not personally be the world's greatest diplomat I certainly do wish the replacement project to succeed and if I can engage with those working on the project in a constructive manner then I will certainly try to do so.

Presumably we are still working to a June 1st Tivo S1 official EPG cut off timetable and there is no likelihood that Tivo will extend the service for say another 3 months on the basis that Virgin haven't perhaps made as much progress as they had originally hoped in installing a new Virgin Tivo in the home of anyone with an S1 Tivo in Virgin Cable land who wants one and who is prepared to lay out the extra cash for one? Also it does strike me that Virgin will only be likely to convert the vast majority of Tivo S1 users in Virgin's area willing to be converted to their new Tivo once the new 500MB Virgin Tivo on all subscription price plans is available and fulfilling all orders for that unit from S1 customers who actually want one once it is available could easily take them another 2 to 3 months.

I wonder if someone should therefore perhaps be trying to persuade Tivo to extend S1 official EPG service until September 1st on that basis as this would also give you guys more time to perfect a replacement EPG product (not that I would mention the latter point in any correspondence sent to Tivo).

Big thanks to everyone who has spent their time & effort on saving our tivos!
I will give my Humax PVR9300T the boot into the attic and blow the dust off my 2nd tivo.

Much appreciated, Thanks again
