Help: Which DTV Box are you using ?

Postby moonchalk » Sun Oct 27, 2019 5:09 pm

For many, many years I have used a TiVo Series 1 quite happily with Sagem ITD58G set top boxes.

However, I found that the Sagem boxes only lasted 2-3 years before playing up and I've now got to the point where I've run out of working boxes and any replacements i do buy tend to have the same 2-3 year failure that I've had in mine.

I've tried to replace the Sagem with a Bush box (because its the only one I could find that had a scart socket) but can't get it to change channels using either the front blaster or the IR Wands.

So the question is, for you remaining TiVo superheros in the UK, which DTV box are you using that is potentially still available and works well with Series 1.

I've found the original TiVo one of the best bits of tech I've ever used over all these years and really don't want to have to call it a day unless I absolutely have to.

Thanks also to AltEPG for a brilliant service over all these years.

I still use the reliable Sony VTX-D800U.

There's a few on eBay, but you don't want to pay more than £15, and make sure you get a remote control (you can't program it without one!).

I know other people on here have had success with newer boxes, which may be better...

Hi,

I used a Humax HD-FOX T2 for a few years without any problems - and also
carried a spare unit.

On recently moving property, I had no option but to change to a Humax FOXSAT-HD .

I would be willing to "gift" to you one these HD-FOX-T2, together with a remote control.

The user handbook is readily available as a download on-line.

All I would ask is that you pay P&P - I would use my Hermes account.

Please send me a PM with your address should you be interested.

Best wishes.

Mike

I have had a Humax over a year but never used it we kept on using the TiVo more straightforward.

Both the FOXSAT-HD and HD-FOX-T2 are purely receivers and not recorders - hence why they can be recommended to
work with Tivo.

You can get HDMI - Scart converters (And Scart - HDMI . I use one of these in my caravan set-up to get the thick scart lead out of the way)

With a bit of effort (using info in this forum) I have managed to teach TiVo the codes for several non supported boxes ..
Still learning ..

Mainly because I tend to forget what I have already learned .. I think
