Old EPG STILL Here.

Postby ByTheCringe » Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:40 am

This morning, I forced a daily call, and have received another day's EPG, complete with a lineup change message, but no other message. EPG data up to 20 June. So where does that leave us? Could they be extending their service...

Don't forget the time difference between California and the UK - the data you just downloaded was prepared on the 31st May. Don't count your chickens until tomorrow!

The messages from tivo say the service will end on June 1st. So they may not switch it off until June 2nd.

I doubt they have it as a high priority to shut this off the second they're supposed to. Surely they will just 'get around to it' sometime soon. Probably just after we all think they forgot :o

2 (or possibly 3) weeks doesn't really count as an "extension" in my eyes :|

Then think of it as a "grace period". Like the 7 days free data when you first got it :)

FWIW. Just done a guided setup on the old EPG system, it completed :-)

Just think about that for a minute: you might be the last person in the country to do so!

More like a "stay of execution" perhaps :)

Interesting. My TiVo Next Scheduled Call time had been at about 3pm. Then yesterday I forced a daily call at about 8am, after which the next scheduled time was still 3pm.

I assumed that this morning I would find that a call had been made at 3pm yesterday, but it has just finished a call started at 8:11am. Normal successful call, another lineup change message, but nothing from TiVo Inc. about their intentions.

The next scheduled call time doesn't get changed until the downloaded data has been extracted and indexed, this can take some time. I did a test call followed by a forced call on an old tivo on Saturday around 6pm, the call status changed to 'succeeded' immediately data had been extracted but the next call was still showing 'Saturday 6.06pm' well after 8 o'clock. It eventually changed to Sunday about an hour later.
