I've done a bit of testing and I think it will be possible to support a small number of users on analogue only until switchover.

The first lineup that is ready to test is:
BBC1=51
BBC2=44
ITV1=41
C4=47
C5=31/35/37

According to this list, this lineup apparently applies to the following transmitters:
Code: Select all
101.04 Tunbridge Wells
101.05 Hemel Hempstead
101.18 Chepping
101.39 Dorking
101.47 Skirmett
102.33 Guiting Power
105.14 Gigha Island
107.13 Newry North
108.06 Shrewton
108.07 Findon
108.17 Corfe Castle
108.19 Portslade
108.20 Westbourne
108.27 Donhead
108.29 Millbrook
108.30 Brighstone
108.38 Brading
108.39 Singleton
108.48 Bovington
109.13 Haydon Bridge
109.19 Seaham
109.21 Staithes
109.25 Falstone
109.29 Whitaside
109.32 Blaydon
114.05 Little Walsingham
114.15 Overstrand
115.00 Sudbury
116.10 Romaldkirk
117.01 Charlbury
130.01 Londonderry
130.03 Bushmills
130.11 Buckna
151.05 Belcoo

If you want to try this, we need to point your tivo's service number to the analog-only headends, so PM me your service number and I will make the change. During Guided Setup, enter your postcode as 01502 and select Aerial only.

Many thanks Pop's

As in my PM, I'll hold off doing my mums one for now, as I'm aware of the single line issue and as she currently has two weeks of TiVo EPG and thus dont want to bung up the single line unnecessarily for the alpha testers and others who have made the change.

Hoepfully in a few weeks there will be either more lines available OR the big rush will have settled down.

Cheers

I posted a week ago about being in an analogue only area, Lewes in East Sussex (BN7 1XL), and living in a listed building with no hope of putting an aerial on it. No Freeview until 2012 sometime. The South Downs block the Heathfield transmitter from our house which some houses in Lewes can pick up.

I've been on holiday, and only just spotted this thread now that I'm back. I'd given up all hope of being able to keep using the Tivo, and my wife in particular would be thrilled if we could keep using our Tivo.

Is it too late to join the analogue experiment?

I have 4 channels only, I was resigned to rolling my TV out into the street once the TiVo guide data stopped, be great if you could add me to your limited list of special cases.

[*]what region you're in
meridian, kent

[*]the transmitter your aerial points at, if you know, or your postcode if you don't
I guess it's chatham town

[*]what channel numbers the five analogue stations are on (not all regions get CH5)
bbc1 - 58
bbc2 - 68
itv - 61
c4 - 54
c5 - nope

OK, that's now in under postcode 01505. As before, please PM your tivo service number so I can point your tivo at the analog-only lineups.

This is great news, thank you for the effort! I haven't done anything yet other than register three TiVos, thinking no point unless/until I can get a dish up and working. Having read this, as soon as I can find the time I'll try this on one of them.

PM sent with numbers.

Thanks again!

This is Great news, we are analogue only here in Leek as you know, until September at least.

my Tivos all run off FreeSat or FreeSky, but a couple of family members only have Terrestrial - I'll get the serial numbers and ping themt to you.

On a related angle is it possible to 'support' the analogue channels (21-68) existence in the channel lineup even if they have no EPG data?

If I setup using Aerial only I can add manual analogue recordings (eg BBC 6 O'clock news on channel 49 here in E.Sussex) but as soon as I add the freeview box it's no longer possible to do that.

Would be useful and would provide a default capability for analogue only locations. Also useful when recording other RF-able sources.

Have tried the Freeview box and the signal is non-existent / appalling!

We get BBC 1 London
BBC2 London
ITV1 London
C4

No Channel 5
I'm sorry - not sure what you mean by the channel numbers. If they are the TIVO assigned numbers, as I've already re-run guided setup I no longer have the old numbers :(

We are TN13 I think we point to either Crystal Palace or Bluebell Hill - but we are in a hole!

It means the RF channel numbers that the analogue transmissions are on for your aerial. If you're pointed at Bluebell Hill you'll be getting BBC1 on C40, ITV1 on C43, BBC2 on C46, Channel 4 on C65. If http://www.ukfree.tv/shutdowndetail.php?tx=TQ757613 is correct of course.
