Connected but missing data

Postby Philb » Tue Jun 14, 2011 6:51 am

My unmodified dial-up TiVo has been working successfully on AltEPG since Sat 30 May.
It completed its 3rd successful daily call last Friday 10 June and *says* it has guide data up to 24 June, but it actually only has data up to this Sat 18 June. The call seemed to download loads of data as it the call lasted a long time and it took about 90 mins to "load" it.

I haven't managed to connect since (presumably the single modem is busy), and in the meantime I've done a reboot for good measure (and to see TiVo Buddy :D ). Any explanation. Do people think it will sort itself when I next get a slot on the modem?
Unmodified dialup TiVo (since 2001). AltEPG working since 30 May 2011.

There really should be an FAQ for these questions!

A: While we are in "alpha testing" stage the AltEPG system is only sending out 7 days' worth of schedules. The 'nonag' channel contains dummy data going further ahead (because otherwise the tivo software nags you to make daily calls) and this is making the Tivo think it has data for 2 weeks rather than just the 1 week at present.

Hi Rachel,

Would appreciate it if you have the time, please create a faq like this one of a few of the most common questions and I'll happily make it a sticky.

The new FAQ answers my question at the start of this thread, and many others. Many thanks to Rachel for setting it up :)

Good work, but that's inevitably going to lead to more questions!

eg:
How much guide data will we have after the "alpha testing" stage?
Roughly how long is this "alpha testing" stage going to last?
What other changes can we expect after the "alpha testing" stage?

But it leads to questions easily answered:
1.Unknown, but as much as we can reliable retrieve without degredating the system
2.Unknown, but when things have settled down to the point where we are looking to put improvements in place, rather than fixing and tweaking existing things.
3.Unknown, but when things have settled down, we will consider putting some things back on the menu, that we have already considered and POC'ed

...and if and when they become "Frequently Asked" I'll add them to the FAQ

It's not supposed to contain ALL the answers, otherwise we wouldn't need a forum! ;)
