Pete's Thread

Postby ByTheCringe » Fri Jun 17, 2011 6:15 am

Nothing against hearing all about Pete, his pronunciation skills, his education background, etc., etc., etc., but it is completely off topic in the Old EPG thread. Here is a new thread, in which you may all comment on Pete matters. I have brought the last post here to get you started.

Whereas I went to a private primary school in the south called a PNEU from age four to eight in the trendy late 1960s that seemed to have dangerously modernist views on things like formal grammar and neat handwriting not being important but it simply being important to express yourself. They probably have a lot to answer for................

And now some 40 years after I left that school I have finally discovered that PNEU stands for Parents National Education Union and that the concept was founded by Charlotte Mason back in the latter part of the 19th century. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Mason

I believe my first form teacher at this school noted that I always liked to do things in my own way and at my own pace rather than be told how to do them or when to have them done but that I was always successful in reaching my goals in the end in my own particular way. In personality I am also incredibly like my maternal grandfather who like me also lost most of his hair by his early 30s. Our genetic inheritance usually accounts for a great deal of who we are even though the environment which we are brought up and educated in also makes a significant contribution.

I note that your most recent posts have had much shorter sentences; if you don't feel able to create compound sentences properly, this is very sensible. Keep it up.

For someone brought up in the north you are quite good at playing the role of an intellectually smug and self satisfied southern snob.

Perhaps Dave can move the other posts over to this thread?

I'm glad this thread is here - I was about to create it myself (but with a much less neutral title :))

Having said that, don't expect for a minute to find any posts from Pete in here - he'll just carry on cluttering up other threads as is his style

I thought long and hard on how to respond to his last personal attack on me and decided that it just wasn't worth the effort. I'm not going to descend to his level just to continue a slanging match - suffice it to say, this is the last of his posts I will be responding to (and if you remember, it all started by my clarification of something he wrote - not a criticism or complaint but a CLARIFICATION. But it seems Pete is unable to see beyond a binary choice people who agree with him and people who criticise

I'll just finish by answering some of the statements he made in his post about me

It sounds to me like you are quite a lot older than me
Wrong!
perhaps you went to school up North
Wrong!
I reckon you must be at least 55
Wrong - 51!
my comments about the left handed kids they were perhaps unjustified
Perhaps???
you are probably thoroughly methodical about timekeeping
If you mean, I am rarely late - I'll agree to not being rude
pretty observant of speed limits
Nope
you actually quite deliberately and proactively started this dispute by making an exceptionally nitpicking point
No - I merely clarified what you said

So Pete can think he has won - There will be no more responses from me to ANYTHING he posts

Perhaps Dave could delete the other posts, and add an Ignore button to the forum.
