I'll leave that one for the FAQ maintainer to answer

Perhaps you can only get ( when you create it through Tivoweb? I'll see what I can find out...

In trying to find the ( I have noticed that the fwd >> and back << buttons add a space or delete last character respectively. Saves scrolling back to the top. Taken about 10 years to find that out!! Obvious really...

A solution to the ( would be good - The Desp* House* (S10* does not work without the ( - Only problem then is the multiple re-shows of the latest episode of e.g. Top Gear through the week on BBC 2 and BBC 3. Any way round that other than only "Keeping 1 episode" ??

Er the 28-day rule takes care of it, and always has done! As long as they are proper Episodes the same episode won't be recorded twice in 28 days regardless of channels. You can press Enter on a programme details screen - near the bottom will be
IsEpsiode: True
(or false for a generic). Generics will need "keep at most: 1" to be set but personally I'd rather babysit the ToDo list than trust that option.

Learning lots of things I never knew from this thread!

So if IsEpsiode = true then this will take care of itself - i.e. not record more than 1 of the same episode in 28 day period?

Yes. One of the most powerful facets of TiVo is its ability not to record Duplicate episodes. And one of the most overlooked by reviewers!

Another thing that blew me away was the way that any Episode that clashes "pops back" into the ToDo list all on its own if the conflict is removed later. eg if you get a different showing of the clashing recording, or the schedule changes any time before the broadcast date and they no longer clash. TiVo is constantly re-checking the schedules trying to make as many recordings as possible. With other PVRs you'd get a conflict screen at the time you try to schedule the 2nd (or 3rd, depending on tuners) recording, it would force you to ditch one of them and that's it - no attempt made to get it again.

Hmm, didn't anyone try it?

Just drop the bracket.

I've just created a Keyword Wishlist for QI season 2:
QI S2*
It matched fine and picked up the only season 2 upcoming episode.

Remember, Title Wishlists search programme title and episode title.
The (s2e4) text is at the start of the synopsis, so you need a Keyword Wishlist to search programme title, episode title and synopsis.
Although this may change and wishlists may need to be changed later of course.

Can someone provide clear, detailed instructions for this? It isn't clear (when using the "search" option under TivoWeb - am using v1.9.4) if the "Add Wishlist" option takes any notice of the selections made under the "Search By" drop down... i.e. some posts seem to indicate that creating a wishlist will automatically search various fields for each programme. What is the correct process to specify "record all episodes of QI for Series 2 only"?

I've tried doing simple "searches" to confirm what will be picked up by the wishlist and examples such as "QI S2*" just seem to timeout or lockup TiVo when doing a keyword search (and returns nothing for "title" or "title keyword" searches). I've tried various shows with similar effect.

As an aside, I thought I'd seen a post earlier from someone who suggested a potential solution for the first run issue. If the guide data being used for AltEPG contains a flag for repeats, it was suggested to set any programme which has the repeat flag to an arbitrary date in the past - while not representing the actual first aired date, it would allow for first run recordings - or is this a simplistic view?

Despite the above, the AltEPG setup ran perfectly and seems to be working quite nicely...thanks for all the efforts...

Just tried a Keyword Wishlist for
"Family Guy" S9*
on TiVo rather than tivoweb and it picked up the correct 3 episodes in the next 7 days.

....now I need to remember to change the wish list for next season....

In TivowebPlus you enter:
Search By: Title/Description Keyword
Search For: QI S2*

Tivoweb 1.9.4 doesn't have the option to search "Title/Description Keyword" which will be your problem.

Thanks Rachel... Will need to find TiVo web plus...

Wth regards to creating the wish lists, will it work correctly via Tivoweb? Ie create the wishlist and convert to auto-record via TiVoweb. But use TiVo to verify the search matches? Or, do I have to use tivowebplus to do it all?

Sorry for being ambiguous. I would use the TiVo to create wishlists just to be safe. LJ released a wihslists module for TiVoweb 1.9.4 which may also work.

Remember as these are keyword searches you shouldn't put quotes around the whole thing in the actual wishlist, but obviously when talking about the search terms here it's easier to read the thread if you do.

It does make sense to put quotes around the programme title as per my previous post of "FAMILY GUY" - as I don't want FAMILY or GUY to be picked up in the key word search.

Indeed. I was referring to separate keywords that will not appear together.
