I would like to add my thanks to the AltEPG team for their great work too... I have now upgraded two TiVos to use AltEPG, one mine and one for my folks, and both proved to be trouble-free experiences.

Looking forward to many more years of S1 TiVo use... :)

No idea - I've got nothing to do with the donations, I was just pointing at the link :)

Seconded! :)

I've not been doing anything TiVo related for about 18 months now (other more exciting stuff to keep me amused - lol) but I was very relieved to see this project suggested and even more relieved the other day when I finally switched over to the AltEPG and it worked.... first time! :D

Keep up the good work guys!

Finally switched my unmodified TiVo over to AltEPG last night. I removed all the SPs but left the Wishlists.

Everything's gone smoothly and the ToDo list has been replenished today.

So glad I can keep my TiVo running, as although it can't compete in terms of picture quality with today's HD offerings, Wishlists and Suggestions mean that I catch stuff I would never know about if I relied on Sky HD or other recorders.

Big thanks to everyone involved

I too would like to thank all involved. It is keeping my 2 original unmodified boxes from Oct 2000 & Dec 2001 running even longer than I could ever have expected.

Once again Many Thanks

Stuart :D :D

Just wanted to add a few words of gratitude to the clever guys who are keeping our beloved, old TiVo running. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

I bought a Thomson TUTV DTI 6300 PVR a while ago in anticipation of the TiVo's demise, but it really isn't a patch on our trusty old TiVo in terms of use or reliability, so I'm glad that I don't have to rely on it for recordings. It's forever crashing and missing recordings, and the user-interface is very clunky in non-intuitive. In fact, I really just use it as a Freeview set-top box for the TiVo and only use it as a recorder on the rare occasions when I need to record two channels at the same time.

My TiVo hasn't been modified in any way, other than the change of dial up number to the 0845 number, so my next step will be to get a bigger hard drive with AltEPG installed and a network card.

Yes, many thanks too from me. My standby TiVo was pulled down from the loft and fitted with a second cachecard I'd bought off Ebay a few years ago. I now have two networked boxes running with new hard drives, one each for Freesat and Freeview. So thanks to the AltEPG chaps and also to TiVo Inc. for precipitating this revolution and reviving my appreciation of these superb bits of hardware.

Folks at AltEPG, thank you very much for saving our TiVo.

For a short while it looked like I had lost a dear friend but after a couple of 'router' changes evrything is back up and running.

Thanks a lot.

I switched lsst week and am just amazed and chuffed to have my TIVO working again fine almost as if nothing has happened.

I haven't found a donation site here. Now maybe I am just being dumb and I have seen references to a beer and pizza fund , but I believe all satisfied users should make a donation. How about £50? The people who have done this wonderful thing for the love deserve no less. Just post here how to do this. .

Thanks

To be honest I don't think I'm happy with promoting donations just now.

I think that only 1 or 2 people will benefit from the donations and ignore all the others who help out by providing phone lines and equipment for free, tweaking the guide data, answering support questions on here (yes that includes me!), and all the helpful people who aren't part of the core team but give their time just as freely. It seems even the project sponsor gets the donation which seems a bit strange to me!

I don't even know what the money will be spent on, so I can't even say that everyone will benefit from better hardware (this is all provided by the sponsor I believe) or something

I would prefer people give their money to someone who really needs it, like the RNLI.
