You can't telnet in an change the permissions of the directories. There are no directories. mfs_ftp works by being an interface onto the TiVo database which spoofs the FTP protocol, so an FTP client "sees" directories and files. Whe you download a file, mfs)ftp extracts the video form the database and send it to the FTP client, which is none the wiser. telenet in and you will find nothing, because they aren't there.

If you recover your machine (and GSOD cycle is not a positive sign, good luck) try uploading the files into any area where there is no X, the root directory say.

Thanks.

Looks like the tivo is a bust - still looping after 3 days so looks like it's a rip/format jobbie - bummer as I'll loose the recordings I had on it.

could still do with a bit of help
i now have too tivos up and working on alt epg both with network working
what i would like to do is to copy my recordings to my pc by network and then put them back if i upgrade the hard disk image or just want to drop just on recording to the other tivo
i can see the tivos on the network and telnet into them ok i use filezilea as the ftp client to put files on the tivos ie hacks

if i open ie to ftp/192.168.0.4:3105 i can see the ty file and can copy them to my pc so i think mfs_ftp is working
what i can not do is see the ty files in my ftp client or put recording back
any help with this would be welcome

Make sure you're using port 3105 not the default port (21?).

Hi Chris,

Have you tried swapping between active and passive connections in Filezilla? I can't remember which one it needs to be - but try the other one. And as mentioned check the port while you're at it.

Is Filezilla connecting to mfs-ftp or not? What does the log in Filezilla say?

Cheers, Dave

hi Lcsneil

did you have to change the setting on mfsftp to get it to work

and do you just drop the recording to your pc and then back to the other tivo

also do you use nanvue to send them back as norm or do you convert to divx

thanks chris

Sorry for delay in replying - been away for a few days

No mfsftp is standard
Yes drop recroding from one Tivo - to PC (as Ty+) then back again (using settings og Tivo Upload)

No dont touch divx
