Who is stuck with analogue only (no Freeview)?

I'm aerial only TiVo, based in Brighton (probably Portslade transmitter).

At the moment after completing guided setup and specifying Aerial only I only get 1 channel "NoNag", what is the latest info to get TiVo to work with Aerial Only?

Thanks,

Mr C

Hehe, it's almost as if you posted to this thread without reading it first  The 'latest info' is all here. And the FAQ entry too.

You're in luck - Portslade is already covered under postcode 01502.

New lineup available on postcode 01509:

BBC1 57
BBC2 63
ITV1/STV/ULSTER 60
C4 53
CH5 35/37/42/49/68

for these transmitters:
Code: Select all
101.03 Reigate
101.26 St Marks
101.35 Otford
102.03 Brierley Hill
102.22 Kenilworth
102.29 Tenbury Wells
102.36 Ipstones Edge
102.37 Whittingslow
104.32 Hasland
104.33 Edale
104.44 Heyshaw
104.72 Conisbrough
104.79 Blackburn in Roth
105.02 South Knapdale
105.04 Abington
105.08 Cathcart
105.38 Kirkfieldbank
105.39 Tillicoultry
107.28 Leitrim
108.01 Salisbury
108.04 Poole
108.05 Brighton Whitehawk Hill
116.03 Bainbridge
116.05 Guisborough
117.00 Oxford
120.02 Oliver's Mount
135.05 Claudy
147.13 Grangemouth

edit: By default Tivo often wants to output its own RF signal on channel 60. If you use this lineup and can't get ITV1, check what channel Tivo is set to output RF on, and if necessary change it to something that doesn't clash (such as 21).

Firstly I gota thank you guys for supplying the analogue listings for those stuck without digital, mums been so greatful of this and I'm sure so have others, HOWEVER the big switch overs happening now very soon now, which means that we're going to have to change folks back over again

Mums one is looking like the start of it will happen around 7th March and fully digital by about the 20th, this will mean new guide data etc and I presume her TiVo being pointed at the correct D/B.

So how much notice will you need and how quick does the TiVo change take i.e if I was to say make a post saying can you swap it NOW, is it likely to take 2hrs, 12hrs, 24hrs, 36hrs etc or is it a case of when someone can be arsed to do it

In theory as she only dials in at the weekends from memory if I posted on a Monday then theres a good chance by Friday it will have been changed I suppose, then it will be time to do another guided setup I presume or is it another clear and delete everything jobbie :?

I don't think there's anything to do this end at all, but happy to be corrected?

IIRC the special postcodes were set up to give the analogue lineups:

01505 Chatham Town (analogue switch off Wednesday 27th June 2012)
01506 Crystal Palace (analogue switch off Wednesday 18th April 2012)
01507 Hannington (analogue switch off Wednesday 22nd February 2012)
01508 Wonersh (analogue switch off Wednesday 18th April 2012)

... but when you re-run Guided Setup, just go back to a standard Freeview setup?

Another member of the team will know more about whether or not there's anything to do on our server, but I think it's just you mum re-running Guided Setup, but back on the standard postcode (see the FAQ) and selecting Freeview.

I'm 100% certain you don't need to clear and delete everything!

Furbag:

I think @poppadum will know for certain, but I believe we need to make a change in the server database to the tivo record for your mum's tivo. You'll then need to do guided setup as MrT says.
I am also fairly sure that the database change only affects guided setup, so we could do it now and you'd continue to get analogue programme data until you choose to run guided setup - but that needs confirming.

Cheers, I think Pops will need to point mums TiVo away from the "special" analogue line up at somestage as I had to specify the service number.

We've still got about 3weeks to go before anything major changes but I suspect there will be more like me, as by the end march I think most if not all the uk will have its analogue switched off.

I'm planing to install the Freeview TV's and box at mums 10th March, on the 7th she loses BBC2 from analogue and they up the freeview signal and then they kill off the rest in two weeks and run everything at full chat on Freeview signals..........well thats what they are saying :?

yes it's a two stage process (DSO1 with just BBC2 gone, and DSO2 with them all gone). The dates I found out about are in my post above, but not sure which of DSO1/DSO2 they referred to.

Those dates are for total loss of Analogue. If each case BBC 2 analogue is lost two weeks earlier.

I believe that's correct.

The analogue-only tivos get their headend slices (i.e lineups, genres, IR database, messages) from a separate headend directory*, but all the listings slices live in the same place. So if we did repoint Furbag's Mum's tivo now, it should continue to pick up new listings.

@Furbag: Having said that, if you PM me when you're ready to switch I can usually respond fairly quickly. I try to check the forum every day if possible.

* In retrospect it wasn't actually necessary to split the headends like this, but I guess it's a bit late to change it now.

Ah so in "theory" it should just work with a new guided setup and a quick postcode change then.

Well I'll still give you the heads up a few days before we go for it just in case anything does need tweaking 8)

Many thanks

Yes please - we do need to change a setting on the server before you switch to digital. If we don't, putting in postcode 01000 won't find any lineups :(

As of today (30/10/2012) the AltEPG analogue lineups have been discontinued. All the terrestrial (aerial) analogue transmissions have now stopped.

End of an era

Then again was analogue TV that great, maybe ? I do find the digital some what frustrating if you dont get a top notch signal as it is to all intents and purposes un-watchable, where as how many of us have watched a snowy analogue channel for years
