I successfully did a Guided Setup from AltEPG back to official Tivo/Tribune EPG on Friday morning 3rd June after doing a clear guide data and thumbs before doing so in case Tivo objected to finding the non Tivo format EPG on the machine.
Everything reverted to the official Tribune EPG successfully using the standard 0808 dialup number on my totally non upgraded Tivo.
It has now made recordings etc using the official Tivo/Tribune EPG and associated brand new season passes.
I would strongly suspect that Tivo have been told by Virgin that they still have a lot of installs of Virgin Tivos for S1 Tivo customers to do and that Virgin (since it is clearly they and not Tivo who are calling the shots on the cessation of the UK S1 EPG service) doesn't want the S1 service to be discontinued until any Virgin Tivo orders placed by June 1st have been installed. This might take several more weeks to complete................
The fact that Dave of Tivoland seems to be aware of Tivo's intentions under a Non Disclosure Agreement (but cannot tell us what they are) and on the back of that information decided to put in all the considerable effort that he has done to set up the AltEPG website and help coordinate the project seems to strongly suggest to me that it is Virgin who have insisted on the official S1 service being killed, that various senior people at Tivo are not at all happy about this but know that it cannot be avoided (due to the contract they have signed with Virgin) and that on this basis Dave was tipped off that if a community AltEPG was got going that Tivo would do nothing to resist, obstruct or oppose such a community EPG project getting off the ground.
Don't forget that the creation of an AltEPG to keep our S1 Tivos running clearly in many ways also helps protect Tivo's reputation with customers both here and especially back home in the USA whilst still strictly speaking honouring the letter of their contractual agreement with Virgin.
