Just think about that for a minute: you might be the last person in the country to do so!

No longer - I successfully did an "official" guided setup at 9:30am (BST) today. Everything went normally, resultant status was "3: Account in Good Standing".

Now that I can manually decide whether my Tivo calls alt-eph, Tivo inc or nobody, I'll be doing an occasional "test call" followed by a "real call" to Tivo inc, so long as my account continues with an active status

As of 8pm last night, I have guide data to June 23rd

This may help people (like me) who are short of time to do the conversion to alt-epg

Yes, the satellite channels that normally provide data for 3 weeks are ending on the 23rd - but even more surprising, I now have another week's data for Channel4/More4/E4/Film4! (w/b 13th June).

Do we think a successful test call is a sure sign that Tivo will get fresh EPG and no instruction to wipe existing EPG or other catastrophic action??

I successfully did a Guided Setup from AltEPG back to official Tivo/Tribune EPG on Friday morning 3rd June after doing a clear guide data and thumbs before doing so in case Tivo objected to finding the non Tivo format EPG on the machine.

Everything reverted to the official Tribune EPG successfully using the standard 0808 dialup number on my totally non upgraded Tivo.

It has now made recordings etc using the official Tivo/Tribune EPG and associated brand new season passes.

I would strongly suspect that Tivo have been told by Virgin that they still have a lot of installs of Virgin Tivos for S1 Tivo customers to do and that Virgin (since it is clearly they and not Tivo who are calling the shots on the cessation of the UK S1 EPG service) doesn't want the S1 service to be discontinued until any Virgin Tivo orders placed by June 1st have been installed. This might take several more weeks to complete................

The fact that Dave of Tivoland seems to be aware of Tivo's intentions under a Non Disclosure Agreement (but cannot tell us what they are) and on the back of that information decided to put in all the considerable effort that he has done to set up the AltEPG website and help coordinate the project seems to strongly suggest to me that it is Virgin who have insisted on the official S1 service being killed, that various senior people at Tivo are not at all happy about this but know that it cannot be avoided (due to the contract they have signed with Virgin) and that on this basis Dave was tipped off that if a community AltEPG was got going that Tivo would do nothing to resist, obstruct or oppose such a community EPG project getting off the ground.

Don't forget that the creation of an AltEPG to keep our S1 Tivos running clearly in many ways also helps protect Tivo's reputation with customers both here and especially back home in the USA whilst still strictly speaking honouring the letter of their contractual agreement with Virgin.

Test calls check and reset the account status. I think it's unlikely they would allow them then do something nasty on a full call. No one (except possibly Dave 8) ) knows what is going to happen finally or why there has been a delay in the switch off. It could be problems in splitting delivery of Tribune epg data, it may be a final software update to do nice things like remove the 'no data' nag screen. We just don't know, but it's fun to guess, and to fun read some of the wilder speculations!

Is it a good idea for people to continue to post when they make calls to TiVo to say whether still working and downloading programme data then hopefully when they finally do pull the plug then not too many will get burnt? Anyone made a call since Sunday morning?

Although it says that, the data for BBC2, ITV, C4 and C5 runs out on Sat 18th June (we got next week's data over the weekend).

But my BBC1 data runs out this Saturday 11th June (I did NOT get next week's BBC1 data, and still didn't this morning). If anyone does have BBC1 data for this week please could you post?

My BBC One data is up to date until 5.30am on 18th June when Our World is the final program. I also have data until 18th June on all the other main channels.

I did a daily call this evening at 7pm but despite briefly showing downloading and loading there was no new EPG data processed because it is a Monday. My minor satellite channels like 148 CBS Action are updated until end of day on 25th July.

Dave of Tivoland reckons we will continue to get EPG data until around the middle of July. I suspect this is the date by which Virgin expect to have installed all Virgin Tivo orders placed by June 1st.

I did a daily call on Sunday and got another weeks main channel data - my BBC1 now runs until the 18th (Horror and similar run to the 24/25th). So all seems normal here.

Successful daily call today 13.00.
Phone connection page indicates programme data to 21 June. Looking at the record by time schedule there is BBC etc programming to 18 June.
A couple of questions:
Does EPG data that is being downloaded in daily call get updated every day or at certain intervals?
Other posts have referred to an account status such as "3: Account in Good Standing" - where do I see that in Tivo menus or is it only after a guided setup?
